Visual Resource Management (VRM 101)
Back to Basics

Dates/Locations tba

Planning forest development in scenic areas requires specialized skills and knowledge. Under the Forest and Range Practices Act, Forest Professionals are charged with the formidable task of achieving visual quality objectives, as well as ecological, economic and social objectives. This two day workshop has been developed to provide practitioners with an up-to-date overview on how Visual Resources are managed in the province of British Columbia.

Day one explores the following topics: Public Perceptions, Visual Landscape Inventory, Scenic Areas, VQOs, FSP Results and Strategies, Visual Impact Assessments, Compliance & Enforcement, Effectiveness Evaluations and Professional Reliance.

Day two is an abbreviated version of the MoFR Visual Landscape Design Training Course. It provides participants with the basic skills needed to apply VLD design concepts and techniques to forest design problems. The course offers a practical set of tools that can be applied at every level, from the design of a single block to the complexities of Integrated Visual Design.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This workshop will be useful if you are: involved in planning, designing, reviewing, and approving forest practices in scenic areas; employed by industry, provincial government or BCTS and must understand the Visual Resource Management program and develop visual landscape solutions as part of your everyday activities.
