Silviculture survey and reporting requirements are key components of the Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act, Silviculture Practices Regulation. Survey information may be used for prescription creation, ascertaining compliance with standards, auditing, or monitoring. It can also be used to update long-term history files for the opening and forest cover maps. Consistency in conducting surveys is important if the information collected is to be of value. There is a need to develop a method to keep persons conducting or monitoring silviculture surveys up to date. The objective of this workshop is to ensure silviculture surveyors are aware of the most current information that will impact the way silviculture surveys are carried out. The current Stocking and Free Growing Procedures Manual will be available at this session.
