This one day course is intended to provide participants with a basic overview of possible windthrow issues in the riparian area. This course will include recent research results on: tree responses to windloading, windflow within small openings and uniformly thinned stands, GIS based techniques for building empirical models and mapping windthrow risk at the landscape scale, as well as windfirming techniques.
